Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis – DRAFT risk assessment related to exposure via food

چکیده

1. MAP is a multi-host pathogen and has been isolated from a variety of wild and domesticated animals (Verma, 2013). MAP commonly infects dairy cattle, leading to Johne’s disease, which is also known as paratuberculosis. The infection is chronic, progressive, and incurable (Collins, 1997). Paratuberculosis affects domesticated and wild ruminants including those used in food production mainly cattle, but also sheep and goats. There are few published cases of MAP infection in pigs but the first such report was by Miranda et al., (2014) where MAP infection occurred in four domestic pigs. Although successful experimental infection with MAP in poultry has been reported, there have been no cases to date where MAP has been associated with avian tuberculosis (Dhama et al., 2011).

Draft Genome Sequence of a Rare Pigmented Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis Type C Strain

Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis is the causative agent of paratuberculosis. We report here the draft genome sequence of a rare pigmented M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis type C strain, comprising 58 contigs and having a genome size of 4,851,414 bp. The genome will assist in the execution of pigmentation and virulence studies on this mycobacterium.

Current status of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis infection in animals & humans in India: What needs to be done?

Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) has emerged as a major health problem for domestic livestock and human beings. Reduced per animal productivity of domestic livestock seriously impacts the economics of dairy farming globally. High to very high bioload of MAP in domestic livestock and also in the human population has been reported from north India. Presence of live MAP bacill...

Genetic Structure of SSR1 & SSR2 loci from Iranian Mycobacterium Avium Subspecies Paratuberculosis Isolates by a Short Sequence Repeat Analysis Approach

Abstract         Background and Objective: Paratuberculosis has been repeatedly reported from Iranian ruminant herds. The extrem fastidious nature of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculsos hinders genomic diversity studies of the pathogen. Short Sequence Repeat analysis is one of the genome-based approches recently developed to overcome this d...
